What shipping options and rates does BarristerBooks.com offer?
For a complete description of all of our shipping options and rates, please see our Shipping FAQ.
How can I cancel an order I placed at BarristerBooks.com?
To cancel an order, please email us at custserv@BarristerBooks.com requesting cancellation of your order. If your order has not yet shipped, we will cancel your order and your credit card will not be charged.
Please note that we can only cancel orders that have not yet shipped from our warehouse, and, to better serve our customers, we ship very quickly at BarristerBooks.com. If a request for cancellation is received after an order has shipped, your only recourse is to refuse delivery of the package when the shipper attempts delivery. In this case, the package will be sent back to our warehouse and your return will be processed according to our Return Policy. Order refusal is only an option with UPS shipments.
What is the status of an order I placed at BarristerBooks.com?
If you have not yet received your order and think that you should have by now, visit the relevant order summary in Your Account. Here you will find the status of your order and, if your order has shipped, its shipment tracking numbers when the carrier has made them available.
When does my credit card get charged?
We charge your credit card only when your entire order has shipped. Occasionally, when you make a purchase using your credit card, a credit card company may put a temporary "hold" for the purchase amount on your card. Although this may look like a charge has been processed, it is not a charge. It is a hold that expires within 1-3 business days and credit card companies do this to make sure that you do not exceed your credit limit.
How can I contact BarristerBooks.com about my order status or an order problem?
You can always contact BarristerBooks.com via the information provided here.
I have to return an item purchased at BarristerBooks.com. How can I do this?
All of your questions about our Return Policy can be answered at our Returns FAQ.
I received the incorrect item and/or incorrect quantity of items. What can I do?
Check the packing slip that was included with your shipment and log in to your Customer Account Order History to see if the items you received are listed there as well. If the items you received are listed, then the items you received were the items in your shopping cart when you checked out at BarristerBooks.com. Because it is the customer's responsibility to make sure, at checkout, that the order contains the correct items and quantities, we regretfully cannot pay for shipping for the return of items in a customer's cart at checkout. However, you may return the items to us (as long as they qualify for return under our Return Policy guidelines) and immediately place a new order at BarristerBooks.com for your desired item, although BarristerBooks.com cannot refund any shipping costs related to the original or replacement order.
If the items you received are not the items indicated either on your packing slip or in your Customer Account Order History, please contact us immediately at custserv@BarristerBooks.com, and we will rectify the problem by providing you with a pre-paid shipping label for the return of the incorrect items. We will also promptly ship the correct items to you. Please note that in order to rectify your order, you must contact us within 3 business days of the delivery of your order.
I received a damaged or defective item. What can I do?
If the item you received is damaged or defective, please contact us immediately at custserv@BarristerBooks.com, and we will rectify the problem by providing you with a pre-paid shipping label for the return of the damaged/defective item, as well as by promptly shipping a replacement item to you. The replacement item sent to you must be the same item originally purchased. Please note that in order to rectify your order, you must contact us within 3 business days of the delivery of your order.
If your problem stems from being unable to get your software item working correctly, please contact the technical support department of the publisher of your software item, as this method can often quickly and successfully solve your problem. The contact information for a publisher's technical support department is usually found on the item packaging or included in the materials that accompany your software product.

How do I place an order that will ship outside of the United States (International Orders)?
Only orders shipped within the United States can be placed online at BarristerBooks.com.
Because all international shipping rates are weight-based, you must tell us which specific items you would like to order, so that we can provide you with an accurate quote. To receive an international order shipping quote, please request one from BarristerBooks.com via our International Order Shipping Request Form. Once we receive this form and calculate your international order shipping quote, we will email a shipping quote back to you, along with ordering instructions. We cannot ship to all international addresses.
What is the LawBook Marketplace?
The LawBook Marketplace is a popular web site where you can buy and sell your used law books. It is also a good place to sell items purchased at BarristerBooks.com that are no longer eligible for return.
For new law books, you can always find the widest selection at BarristerBooks.com.
How do I place an order via fax?
We do accept orders placed via fax. The easiest way to set up a fax order is to shop in the regular manner at www.BarristerBooks.com, clicking the "Buy Now" button to place the items you desire into your online shopping cart. Continue through the online checkout system, choosing your shipping method along the way. Once you reach the last checkout page (Checkout Page 3 of 3), instead of submitting your order online, simply click the Easy Fax Form to print your order in a format that can be easily faxed to us.
You may then fax your order to us at: 1 (888) 380-3411
How do I place an order via mail or pay with check/money order payment?
We do accept orders placed via mail. The easiest way to set up a mail order is to shop in the regular manner at www.BarristerBooks.com, clicking the "Buy Now" button to place the items you desire into your online shopping cart. Continue through the online checkout system, choosing your shipping method along the way. Once you reach the last checkout page (i.e. Checkout Page 3 of 3), instead of submitting your order online, simply click the Easy Fax Form, which you can print out and send to us.
You can then mail your order and payment to us at :
BarristerBooks.com
615 Florida Street
Lawrence Kansas 66044
Include the printout of your order and the payment in the correct amount. For payments by check, your check must clear all processing banks before your order can ship from our warehouse. This can cause a delay of 4-7 business days in the shipment of your order. For this reason, we recommend payment by money order, which generally ships an order upon reciept.
How can I be sure I am buying the latest edition available?
At BarristerBooks.com, we realize that an outdated law book is a dangerous law book. That's why you will never find that we are carrying an edition that has subsequently been replaced with a newer edition by the publisher. We carry only the most current editions, as released by the publisher, of every title in our inventory and we even guarantee it! If you find that a more recent edition of the title you purchased from us has been released by the publisher within 21 days of your purchase date, contact us and we will replace your obsolete edition at no charge to you!
Will I receive automatic updates for the titles I purchase?
Generally, we do not provide an automatic update service for the titles we offer. Your purchase price is only for the edition you are purchasing. Most of the titles we carry are updated only every 2-3 years.
However, we do offer some titles, primarily attorney practice titles, whose price does include a brief window of free updates, plus automatic trial review of subsequent updates. For those titles for which free and/or trial updates are offered, this information will be noted with an asterisk in the title's edition information and also noted in detail at the bottom of that item's product page. In these cases, the entity providing the update service will be the publisher, not BarristerBooks.com.
Is payment by credit card a secure and safe method at BarristerBooks.com? You can safely enter your entire credit card number via our secure server, which encrypts all submitted information. To provide you with an additional layer of security, no credit card numbers provided during your order placement are stored by BarristerBooks.com. Your credit card number is used only once during a transaction (and even then, it is securely encrypted during the payment authorization process) and is never recorded on our server. Thus, there is virtually no risk of having your credit card information stolen.
Do you charge sales tax on orders? The vast majority of our items are not subject to sales tax in any state, except Kansas. However, a few items, primarily attorney practitioner titles (i.e. those whose product SKUs include ATTY), are subject to sales tax when shipping to certain states. If applicable, this sales tax amount will appear in your shopping cart during the checkout process.
